Food and Nutrition Services (formerly the Food Stamp Program): This link takes you to the site where you electronically complete the application for FNS to see if you are eligible. To apply in person, you will need to visit the Department of Social Services, which is beside the Health Department.
Asthma Management and Lead Poisoning: If you fear either of these has become a concern for your child, Craven County Environmental Health may be able to assist you in managing both. They provide asthma management classes for parents, and can do home inspections. They also investigate any cases of lead poisoning.
Smile Mobile: This is a mobile dental clinic that sees children and pregnant women who receive Medicaid or are self-pay. They travel throughout Craven, Pamlico, and Jones counties. Call for an appointment.
Craven County Smart Start: Assist with daycare, child care and headstart referrals and resources, information on family support groups, children play groups, and activities in Craven County available to children.
Craven County Cooperative Extension: The Cooperative Extension supports the local 4-H programs; it provides information on local agriculture, nutrition, offers wellness classes, and provides information on community happenings.
Parks and Recreation: They provide information on summer camps, local walking, paddle, and biking trails, any public parks, and athletic leagues. If you want to take you children out for outside play time, this site can provide you with the information you need.

The year of celebration marking Craven County’s 300th Anniversary is coming to an end, but the website is not. As we move forward into the next 100 years, it will be used to share information gathered during 2012 and to help further the knowledge of citizens and visitors about the county.
