Unwanted pets are a problem facing both our community and our citizens. Pets which are abandoned can quickly become a nuisance and a safety hazard; not only is it inhumane, it is also illegal under NCGS 14-360.1.
If you have any unwanted pets, please try to find good homes for them. Classified advertisements are a good way to get the word out. Also, try a bulletin board at a local store, church, or veterinary clinic.
Unwanted pets may be brought to the shelter during our regular business hours which are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Holidays and Sundays are excluded.
All animals are evaluated by our staff and sometimes placed for adoption. But many factors may prohibit the animal from being adopted. No guarantees are made.
For more information about unwanted pets or for questions, please call the Animal Services Center at (252) 637-4606 during our normal business hours.
